Down Syndrome Our Journey Together
The Internet is a wonderful thing! I truly wish that Internet was discovered back when Tim was younger. I would have had all the wonderful resources and social networking that we have today. Especially when you have a child with Down syndrome or mosaic Down syndrome. This is a much needed outlet and utilized by so many!
I can honestly say that I have never been to a message board or email group for families of children with Down syndrome or mosaic Down syndrome that the families were not completely welcoming and caring to one another. It is as if, we all have this very special, unbreakable bond that holds us together. It doesn’t matter what part of the world you live in, what race, religion or culture that your household shares, none of that matters at all! Immediately you are in a “Family”. I know that is how IMDSA’s support group has always been.
This past week, I have had the honor to join another family online. Down Syndrome~Our Journey Together is a great message board full of fantastic and beautiful families! Many were asking questions concerning my previous post on Simian Creases and it was as if I opened the front door to a warm, cozy home and was immediately welcomed to come and sit by the fire!
The board description says,
“This board was designed for those who love someone who happens to have Down syndrome. We promote the dignity and respect for ALL life. While we are steadfast in our belief that all life is precious, we welcome anyone who is open to a respectful discussion. As a member, you will have access to pages that we will keep private. In order to maintain membership, you must introduce yourself, and post at least 5 posts within the first month of your membership. This is to ensure that we are forming community within our private pages. Our public pages offer a lot of encouraging stories, and answers to questions you may have about Ds in general.
