Happy New Year!

I am very happy today! The past two New Year’s I have been horribly sick in bed. The first year, I had a stomach virus that I really didn’t think I would live through. Then last year, I had an abscess tooth that made my face swell up the size of a softball and I was in so much pain that I stayed in bed on heavy pain pills!

So, this year, I was determined to not get sick! However, it was questionable for a while… For the past three days I have had a bad headache that was turning to a migraine. Thankfully, when I went to visit my mom today, she had some migraine medicine and that at least dulled it enough to get by. Now that I am back home though, I wish I would have swiped some of those from her, since I am feeling it come back again.

We have never really had an eventful New Years (unless you want to call being sick eventful) Because my husband works out of town it is usually just me and the boys and so we just stay home and it is just like every other day for us. So, just going to my mom’s today was “eventful”. However, there were reasons for my visit.

Yesterday, my parents had to put their 12 1/2 yr old lab, Taylor, to sleep. He has been suffering from hip trouble for many years and yesterday he couldn’t stand anymore. Unless you have a pet, especially for that long, you don’t really know what it is like to loose one. For all of us, it was hard to say goodbye to Taylor. We had a lot of wonderful memories with him and my youngest son, Garrett, has grown up with him, since they are the same age (by 4 weeks difference). But, this was the right decision I think, because Taylor just didn’t need to suffer and he really was.

But my post is not to depress you! This is the beginning of 2009! A new beginning!

The other reason for visiting my mom was because my oldest son, Arron and his family were there. I got a few pictures that I wanted to share with you.

Some may ask what all this has to do with Down syndrome or mosaic Down syndrome. After all… that is what this blog is supposed to be about! This shows that Life Goes On! We are a family. We do things together just like every other family! We laugh when we are happy. We cry when we are sad. And we enjoy life just like every other family around the world does. Having a child with mosaic Down syndrome may seem a little different to someone who doesn’t have a child with mosaic Down syndrome. But to me…. having a child who doesn’t have mosaic Down syndrome seems different! I can’t imagine life any other way!

I hope you and your family have a Happy New Year!
