Windows into Heaven
Last year I had the opportunity to write an inspirational story about my son Tim to be included in a book of stories about individuals with Down syndrome.
I thought carefully about Tim’s life and wanted to be able to sum up his life in one story. This was not an easy task, to say the least! But I think I managed it.
I wont tell you what event I wrote about, but I will tell you that this story is something that I have never before told to the public!
Hundreds of individuals submitted their stories for this book and honestly, after submitting mine, I didn’t think much about it afterwards. I didn’t really expect to be chosen out of those hundreds of submissions, and because my story was about mosaic Down syndrome, I wasn’t sure that the publishers would be interested in including it.
Then one day I received a message that I had been chosen to be a contributing author of this book. And, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that two more of our families at IMDSA were chosen also.
Last week, I received my copy of Windows Into Heaven. This “Chicken Soup for the Soul” type book has 29 inspirational stories from parents of children with Down syndrome and mosaic Down syndrome. The stories are so incredibly inspirational they will warm your heart, make you smile, and sometimes, bring tears to your eyes.
IMDSA has had the opportunity to sell these books from our website and a portion of the proceeds will go to IMDSA’s Outreach Program, so we can continue to spread awareness throughout the world!
