Scholarships available for mosaic Down syndrome research

International Mosaic Down Syndrome Association has come a long way since our inception back in 2001 when we were muddling through the nonprofit basics and just staying afloat to provide support to families throughout the world whose children have mosaic Down syndrome.

In the past eight years we have learned a lot about mosaic Down syndrome and what our families need in terms of support and information.

Last year, we began raising money for research. Wehave always strongly supported and encouraged research in many forms to better understand mosaic Down syndrome and in turn, have learned a lot about Down syndrome as well, because when we learn about mosaic Down syndrome–a more complex form of Down syndrome, we learn more about Trisomy 21 Down syndrome–the most common form of Down syndrome.

We were quite pleased with our first fundraiser to gain funds to financially support small research projects and hope to expand on this in years to come.

Currently, IMDSA is offering the following:

International Mosaic Down Syndrome Association will be offering two $500 scholarships to Master’s Level Students interested in studying mosaic Down syndrome or other related topics. For more information you may visit our website or contact IMDSA’s Research Officer, Kristen Lipscomb Sund at research@imdsa.org

We would love to pass this information along to everyone in hopes to find students interested in participating in this project. So, please feel free to pass the info along!
